How to commission your bespoke ironwork
1: Initial consultation
Your first consultation to discuss your ironwork requirements usually takes place over the phone or here at our forge. If your idea isn’t yet completely formed it’s not a problem. That’s what we’re here for. Whether you’re choosing from our range of customisable, predesigned products, or looking to commission a one-of-a-kind piece, we can talk you through all options. For fully bespoke pieces, we provide up to three concept drawings, with an ‘early stage estimate’ for each, so you can choose the design best suited to your tastes or budget.
2: Design Development
Once your design concept is agreed, the project moves into the design development phase. During this stage you have the opportunity to request one minor alteration to the design, at no charge. And don’t worry if you decide you’d like more substantial changes. We are completely flexible. We may need to charge for any increases in material costs or design and construction time, but we will discuss this with you beforehand should this be likely. With the design stage concluded and specification now in place we can confirm your final quotation.
3: Created & Finished
We can provide a superimposed image of your ironwork ‘in situ’ and a sample ‘cut out’ of any laser cutting design elements, if included. This is also the stage when the physical construction of your ironwork begins. Once construction is complete, your product is then either painted in any of the 260 RAL colours, artificially weathered to produce a naturally patinated finish, or left ‘as is’, according to your choice. We aim to complete your project within 4-8 weeks from first contact, although particularly large or complex projects may take longer.
4: Delivered & Fitted
Once finished, we can either email you photographs of your ironwork or you are welcome to inspect your ironwork at our forge before it leaves our premises. You can also visit our forge during construction to see your ironwork being made, although as this is a working forge please call first. For quality control purposes we offer and recommend delivery and installation by our in-house experts. However, should you prefer we are happy for you to collect and install your product yourself.
